I’m Shirley, and I'm passionate about using design to bridge geographic, cultural, and educational divides. I also enjoy making people smile (and contemplate).
I'm a senior studying Arts, Technology, and Business at USC’s Iovine and Young Academy. Most recently, I was at Facebook Messenger as a Product Design Intern. Before that, I built end-to-end rental experiences as a Kleiner Perkins Fellow at Zumper, shaped the future of remote collaboration at Vowel, and supported international growth campaigns at Wish.
Outside work hours, I advise global initiatives for Gen She, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports thousands of entrepreneurial young women. I'm also co-founding Tofu Collective, a community addressing the intersectional gap in design leadership.
Beyond that, I make ceramics and ask philosophical questions. I write – and have published an immersive essay on how Instagram affects the physical world. I'm particularly fond of microcopy, use too many em dashes, and entertain big ideas about making education more accessible to all.
